Henry Sinclair visited America in 1388
On our 1998 summer trip just by chance we happened to stop at a view point overlooking Chedobucto Bay, which is between Nova Scotia and Cape Breton. There a large plaque told of Henry Saint Clair (Sinclair), another Scotsman, anchoring in the bay in 1398 and exploring Nova Scotia. The plaque went on to say he subsequently explored along the coast down to Newport and into Massachusetts. This was almost a hundred years before Columbus. The plaque ended by saying as he was in disfavor with the Pope his exploits and accomplishments were "..swept into the dust bin of history."
This bit of information really piqued Bob's interest. When we got home he began searching Internet to find more of this great story. The following is what he found. The story of Henry Sinclair
